There are two ways to find great
web shops on thepurplebook.com:

The Quick Search option is
available from the home page once you
have logged in. This is the fastest way
to track down a general list of similar
shops so you may compare their ratings
and reviews, or visit them all to find
the best value and selection.
1. Select the general type of product
you’d like to shop for from our
menu of common shopping categories. Click
OKAY.
2. Choose a more specific product type
from a list of key words related to your
selected category (works best if you choose
3 or less). Click OKAY when you are ready.
3. Pick out any desired customer service
options such as Giftwrapping, Gift Certificates
and Overnight Shipping. Click SEARCH when
you are finished. |

Follow the Advanced Search
link to pinpoint very short lists of sites
most likely to carry a specific product
you seek, or to perform a compound search
using any or all of the following criteria.
Click SEARCH when you are finished:
1. Search For - Enter
your search term in this field (note:
simple product terms will be most effective,
such as the terms wine, book or gift).
2. In This Category -
Your search results will be more reliable
if you select a general product category
from this list.
3. Limit Search To -
Check the box which best corresponds to
the type of search term you would like
to use: Product, Company Name, URL and
New Listings(?).
4. Customer Service Options -
Check any of these boxes to search only
for sites offering one or more of the
following amenities: Free or Standard
Delivery, Overnight Shipping, Gift Certificates,
Gift Wrapping and Gift Registry.
5. Key Word Search -
use this search feature to display all
listings that match a key word. |

Interpreting the Results |

Your search results will be an alphabetical list
of sites meeting your search criteria. Each site
includes the following information:
1. URL - Follow this link to
visit the site.
2. Company Name
3. Customer Service Number -
You may call this number with any questions regarding
new or existing orders.
4. Review - Read each review
for better insight into a site’s style,
selection and history.
5. Customer Service Icons - These
round icons indicate the customer service ratings
and options available from a particular site (roll
over each icon to read its definition).
6. Key Words - These words, printed
in white on orange, offer quick reference to a
site’s general product selection and style.
7. Section icons - These rectangular
icons also offer a reference point to determine
the style or selection of a site (roll over each
icon to read its definition).
